Club Time Trial Challenge - Saturday, Dec 12, 2009 - Tempe
Time/Location: Meet at Landis
Cyclery at Rural and Warner in Tempe at 7am. We
will sign all of the teams up and match up those who do not have a
complete team. We will then leave Landis around 7:30 to do a warm up
ride out to Riggs and Maricopa (347). We hope to get the first team off
around 8 am.
Format: This will be a standard 4-person time trial. It can be a mix
of any gender or age. The time ends with the third rider (so the
fourth can get dropped if needed). The time trail will be around 10
miles in length. The TT will start from just north of Maricopa Rd.
(347) on Riggs Rd. and finish on 51st ave. and Pecos (just south of the
light at the Shell gas station)
After: After the time trial, we'll ride "around the mountain" back to
Landis Cyclery. We will provide the results to all clubs to
disseminate. Bragging rights will go to the fastest team! We may
coordinate a breakfast ride from there as well.
Timing: Landis Cyclery will provide the start and finish timing and
will post the results at Landis Cyclery where we started.
Other: We would ask that each of you coordinate with your own clubs and
forward us the names for each of your teams in advance, if you can. I
would also like to know how many might be interested in eating breakfast
at the Good Egg (for head count purposes) Again, the idea here is to
have a fun, safe and fast ride. It is low-key on purpose. Of course,
side bets are always welcome :-). If anyone has any questions, they
can call or email Mike Hughes at 602-430-1043 or mike@mikehughes1.com.

Vania Black
On March 1st, while riding along the Carefree Highway in Phoenix, AZ our friend and fellow triathlete Vania Black was hit by a horse trailer. She suffered from a number of broken bones, a collapsed lung, and a subdural hematoma. She was in a coma for three weeks. Fortunately, she woke up from her coma but has suffered some brain damage. She has been in in-patient treatment at the Barrow's Neurological Institute for the some of March, the full month of April, and a little into May.
Our hope is for Vania to make a full recovery; we are trying to help her financially by holding a 5k and 1mile fun run. We are also promoting "Not One More" a non-profit foundation - . who is dedicated to ending the cyclist-vehicle accidents on the roads today."

Club Uniform and Polo Shirt Information
Uniforms: Due to the overwhelming interest in Club uniforms it has come time to
place another order.
Polo Shirts: We've requested more details on the women's shirts from The Perfect Touch but
haven't gotten an answer yet. We will need a total of at least 12 shirts (men's and women's) to be able
to get the $30 price. If we don't get enough of the female orders then they will have to be added to
the male order to get to 12 shirts. I don't have a picture for the men's, but Mike and Dan have
worn the shirts at the last two meetings and will again this next Tues.
In order to receive the uniforms in time it will require a prompt response from all who are interested. We are setting a DEADLINE of July 25th for payment.
