There are hobbies and there are passions. Triathlon training and racing may have started as a hobby for me 20 years ago, but it is now definitely a passion in my life.
I haven't necessarily figured out which Triathlon distance is my favorite or which I excel at the most and that's probably okay. Ideally, I want to continue to train, compete and enjoy Sprint, Olympic, Half Iron and Ironman races for many more years to come.
My main passions include my Faith and my Family. I am a husband of 17 years to my biggest fan, Cristette and and the father of three sons, Andrew, Nathan and Matthew. I also serve on the planning committee for the International Christian Triathlon Network (ICTN). We put on a Tri Camp here in the Valley every January. I work for United Healthcare as an Account VP managing our AZ government business.
My goals this year include representing First Wave Tri and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA-Endurance) at all events. I will still work very hard to get to Kona someday as well as try to make USAT All-American (and drop the Honorable Mention part) but hope to just stay healthy, safe and try to have fun.
Thank you for allowing me to be a FWT Sponsored Athlete again this year! Its good that you are so nice to this "old man"!

It is shocking sometimes that I have been doing some sort of road racing for nearly twenty years; all post high school. I can still remember the first 10k that I ran in my home town of Cleveland, Ohio, but I cannot remember the year. It was sometime in the eighties well before online registration and result archives.
I needed a new challenge in 1996 when I did my first triathlon and have been passionate about the sport since that moment my feet crossed the finish line. However, I have never enjoyed the sport more since the day I found First Wave Tri. FWT took a skinny little boy from Cleveland, Ohio, and have asked him to represent the club as a sponsored athlete. I am overwhelmed with joy and deeply honored.
Other than my dalmatian, Spot, I have family still in Ohio and a brother in Nevada. I teach Health and Physical Education, and have do so for ten years.
My athletic goals for this year include joining the sub-3:00 marathon club and a podium spot at SOMA. Thankfully this year I joined the Ironman family after finishing Ironman Coeur d'Alene. In addition to the aforementioned goals, I am also striving to spread the word about FWT and encourage fellow members as they attempt to reach their goals.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for adding me as a First Wave Tri Sponsored Athlete!!! There is so much that I need to learn and have made some great friends, and look forward to adding to both categories in 2007-2008.
I hope everyone has a great season!!!

Hi everyone, I want to express my gratitude for being chosen as a sponsored athlete from First Wave Triathlon. Coming from South Dakota I know what it feels like not to have an affiliation with a club.
I was one of those triathletes who didn't know what HRM, LT, VO2, RPM, PR, TI, and T2 meant and was too afraid to ask. First Wave Tri has provided me with an education. I have had the opportunity to make new friends, train smarter and safer, and help out other new athletes to the sport. Whether it is swimming masters, doing a morning group ride or run, or chatting at a club social, I enjoy the unity of the club and spending time with fellow members. One thing is for sure, I can always count on fans at every race. From Sprints to Ironman I can always look forward to hearing "Go First Wave" and the assurance of knowing that at any moment I will be greeted by the great yellow and black jersey followed with a quick high five and a word of encouragement.
Here is a little about me: 26 years young, work as a computer teacher in Phoenix. I have been doing tri's for 1 year and love it. The Timex Triathlon will be the first race I will do twice. Prior to this year I spent a lot of time in the weight room competing in collegiate weight lifting and body building contests. I am continuously challenging myself athletically, academically, and spiritually. I have loved my first year here in the desert look forward to what I can make of the future.
